Get Messy Art Journal || 01

Today, I'm excited to share my first pages for my Get Messy Art Journal!

For my prompt related entry, I worked with some watercolors. I am in no way a painter. Like, not even close. So my self portrait mostly consists of some semblance of a person and lots of watercolor. And more some more haphazard paint splatters.
To make this about myself, I used a lot of song lyrics that seem to always hit really close to home with me. I've said it before - I like other people's words more than I like my own. And while it's not the most optimistic or empowering of journal pages, I think it's honest. Honest is good, I think.
If anyone is interested, the songs featured are Annie's Always Waiting (For the Last One to Leave) - Matt Nathanson, Sweater Weather - The Neighbourhood, Photograph - Ed Sheeran, Even My Dad Does Sometimes - Ed Sheeran, and She Looks So Perfect - 5 Seconds of Summer.

My non-prompt page has a good amount of lyric journaling, again. Surprise, surprise. I just had a really good playlist going on this week. I used a chalk pen for the writing on the black paint. It worked wonderfully. The colors remind me of summer, which I am missing intensely right now. :(

The song here is This Far by the wonderful Kina Grannis.

Thanks for sticking around for this long! Really excited to be starting the Get Messy Art Journal and keeping myself focused on not forgetting to make things more often.

  1. Honest is very good. I think sometimes other people can talk about us better than we can. It's so hard to put our thoughts into words because when we feel we know it exactly, so there just aren't enough word options.

Love the way you use watercolours.

I LOVE Kina Grannis (In Your Arms was our wedding first dance song). So freaking happy that you joined us in time for this prompt.

  2. I love your pages they are very raw. You seem sad. I hope Get messy can help you to feel better if that's what you need right now.
